While many Hebrew Roots Christians use Hebrew words and Hebrew names from the Bible, we are not a part of the “Sacred Names Movement,” a divisive theology that requires others to use their chosen pronunciation of the Hebrew names of God and Jesus for the sake of salvation and fellowship.

While Scripture DOES encourage the use of the original Hebrew names, there is a debate as to the exact grammatical rules and pronunciation, so there are a few varieties that are used. Some in the Sacred Names Movement also demand others to become baptized in those names in order to be saved, also some demand others not use the names “Jesus,” “Lord,” and “God” but only the Hebrew terms.
