Introduction to the Directory

This directory will also highlight problems with the infiltration of the teachings of Judaism (Pharisee-ism) within Facebook groups claiming to be Hebrew Roots. Just as this was a problem in the days of the first-century church (Acts 15), the infiltration of teachings from Pharisees (Modern Judaism) remains today and is still detrimental to those younger in the faith, causing even some to fall away.

Reviews are the expressed opinions of the editors of this website.  Review standards are based upon several factors:  1) Admins hold the norm of basic Hebrew Roots doctrines2) Admins are active, fair, consistent, and balanced in their administration.  3) Admins do not allow posts of propaganda from Judaism, that are harmful to people's faith, including the idea that Jesus (Y'shua) is not God.  4) Admins promote a warm and welcoming environment of sharing and learning that edifies the Body of Messiah and also protects the faith of those.

IMPORTANT POINT ABOUT REPORTING POSTS TO THE ADMINS
Admins for each group often need the members help to patrol the posts in each group.  So to participate in a group, you should get in the habit or reporting posts that you feel are not proper.  This, of course, is based upon what the Admins allow and don't allow.  This is one reason we are giving you information here in this directory to help you find a better fit with basic Hebrew Roots teachings.

Shalom friends!
Many are coming to the realization that we need to spiritually and physically prepare ourselves, our families, and our homes for survival (sustainability) during future temporary and long-term times of trials and disaster events. Some believe that the need for self-sufficiency and survival preparedness is just a better way of living. Some believe they are preparing for prophesied end-times events, or for war, or for natural disasters, or the breakdown of economic, electrical or civil governmental systems. Regardless of the motivation, the theme remains the same for all: BE PREPARED!
To be prepared and to participate in 'preparedness' education and awareness is an act of wisdom and love for our families and our community of like-minded Believers. This is what this Facebook Group is about: to provide a VENUE ON PREPAREDNESS for like-minded Torah-observant Disciples of Yeshua (Jesus). May YHVH grant us wisdom in these trying times. Amen! Amen!

REVIEW:
This is the second largest Hebrew Roots Group on Facebook with 11,400 members.  The group has a lot of activity and a lot of members. The group has a fare reputation for providing open, respectful, and balanced posts.  It provides more of a "fellowship" feel, good discussion-oriented, and good all-around experience - we recommend this group but "with caution" (see below)

Some may ask if the size of such a large group could properly be managed at all, but the group is actually well balanced, fair, and administered and monitored well.  In 2019, there has been an increase in posts from users promoting teachings from Judaism which has gotten past the admins and moderators and is now an on-going problem - so this group is not recommended for those new to Hebrew Roots.
Administrator(s):   Paul Nison  and  Renee Hyde
Moderator(s):  Jason Purnell

DEITY OF JESUS (Y'SHUA)
Their official position is that Jesus (Y'shua) is God.  They do generally allow for a good healthy discussion about the topic even though certain posts might be slanted against the deity.  Unfortunately, THEY DO ALLOW some posts that are outright propaganda against the deity of the Messiah. Because of this they receive a recommendation but "with Caution" ratingThey need to be more aggressive in weeding out anti-deity propaganda.

TEACHINGS FROM JUDAISM
They clearly allow some posts associated with the teachings of Messianic Judaism (Rabbinical Judaism, Talmud, and Kabbalah).  Some members are clearly involved in Messianic Judaism.  Their official position does not support Messianic Judaism or Judaism yet they clearly promote some traditions and customs from Judaism, which unfortunately is common in Hebrew Roots.  They have been known to CENSOR POSTS that challenge the validity of these traditions. Because of this they receive a recommendation but "with Caution" rating.

LAST UPDATED: June 2022

ABOUT (from the Group):
The main purpose of this forum is for the dissemination of reports from Israel of the new moon and the status of the maturity of the barley there. Discussions here should pertain only to this system of calendation (i.e., fresh visible crescent from Israel as the sign to start the month / aviv barley as a sign to start the year), and not other systems. If you would like to debate/discuss other calendars, there are a plethora of other forums available to do so - please don't bring the debates here.

REVIEW:
Want to obey God and observe his annual Holy Days? Great! So when exactly does that take place? To observe a "Biblical Holy Day" you must use a "Biblical Calendar", not a rabbinical (Jewish) or western calendar. THIS FACEBOOK GROUP is a great place to get the latest details on reports from Israel concerning the New Moon sighting (start of each Biblical month) AND the Barley Harvest in the spring concerning the state of Aviv, which is used to identify the beginning of the Biblical New Year.

LAST UPDATED: November 11, 2018

REVIEW:
This by far is the largest Hebrew Roots Group on Facebook with 14,000 members.  Unfortunately, this group borders on being more a part of Messianic Judaism (Rabbinical Judaism, Talmud, and Kabbalah) than actually a part of Hebrew Roots. The size of the group provides a lot of activity but unfortunately attracts many non-Hebrew Roots people who provide another level of conflict and division. In addition, the fact that the admins lean heavily towards Messianic Judaism, they allow many posts that are in direct conflict with those seeking to learn the basics of Hebrew Roots teachings.

The group has gotten a justly deserved bad reputation for its divisive, conflicting, and confusing nature. While there has been a lot of positive posts in the group, there has been way too much negative, harmful and misleading posts to make the group worthwhile. This group gives Hebrew Roots a bad reputation and for a good reason. It can serous damage people's faith. Because of this "wild west" environment, we cannot recommend this group unless you are rock solid in your faith, have apologetic skills, and are ready to debate. Some may ask if the size of such a large group could properly be managed at all.  Regardless, we cannot recommend this group.
Administrator(s):  Dennis Lene' and Joy Lene'
Moderator(s):  John Pierce

DEITY OF JESUS (Y'SHUA)
Based upon conversations with the Admins and experience in the group, they freely allow people to post challenges and mockery of the idea that Jesus (Y'shua) is God.  In personal conversations with the Admins, it is no wonder why they allow this.  They profess that Jesus (Y'shua) is the Son of God, but when asked is he God, they are unsure and refused to answer. This view actually falls outside the basics of Hebrew Roots and has its origins in Modern Judaism. This is the main reason why they have receive a NOT recommendation rating.

TEACHINGS FROM JUDAISM
The Admins clearly allow posts associated with the teachings of Messianic Judaism (Rabbinical Judaism, Talmud, and Kabbalah).  Too many members are clearly involved in Messianic Judaism as their posts reflect. The Admins have been known to CENSOR POSTS that challenge the validity of these traditions of Judaism within Hebrew Roots. Because of this they receive a NOT recommendation rating.

ABOUT (from the Group):
Hebraic discipleship ... The Father created Heaven and Earth with His Word. Yehushua HaMashiach was His Dear only Begotten Son sent to Earth to pay the price for our sins. The Torah (law) was NOT done away with but emphasized to do as best we can. We believe that the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation but the interpretations of man can confuse people and lead them astray. All the posts here are not necessarily in agreement with our own personal beliefs because the Body has many parts. Please consider and pray before posting ANYTHING. Any blatant sales promotions or monetary contribution pleadings will be deleted and the user subject to permanent banning.

DEITY OF JESUS (Y'SHUA)
The main admin John Pierce teaches that Jesus (Y'shua) is not God. Unsure any official group position, but in their practice THEY DO ALLOW posts that are outright propaganda against the deity of the Messiah. Because of this we do not recommendation this groupThey do generally allow for a open discussion about the topic for and against the deity of the Messiah.

TEACHINGS FROM JUDAISM
The admins clearly allow some posts associated with the teachings of Messianic Judaism (Rabbinical Judaism, Talmud, and Kabbalah).  Some members are clearly involved in Messianic Judaism.

ABOUT (from the Group):
This group is for all followers of Yeshua the Messiah who desire to keep his Torah and want to further their Hebraic understanding of the Scriptures. You are free to add your friends who are like-minded. We desire to have a large community of members who are eager to share and learn. This group is for open minded people who seek discussion and learning as long as everyone is polite and it is done in love. The Way - Without traditions - 3,400 members - NOT RECOMMENDED

The Way - Without traditions  - ENGLISH - GLOBAL - NOT RECOMMENDED

LINK:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/229461517128659/

LAST UPDATED: November 14, 2018

REVIEW:
Many in Hebrew Roots easily identify with the name "The Way", but does this group stand up to its name?  In short, some in Hebrew Roots stumble upon this group but quickly find out the group is administered badly so it is more like an unsupervised debate or "fight club."
It has a reputation of not providing open, respectful, and balanced posts and can, at times, becomes downright hostile.  It provides fair discussion(fight)-oriented but bad all-around experience so we cannot recommend this group.

The group has an average amount of activity with its 3,400 members. The group's policy states it is Scripture focused and against the traditions of Christianity and Judaism, which sounds great on the surface, but quickly fails with it own set of biases, pet traditions, and some members' anarchist rages against everything Christian - and I mean everything (even things that are actually in the Bible).

The group is run by admins with somewhat awkward set of fundamentals that you often will not discover until you cross them.  There is definite division in the group between the 'regulars' and those in Hebrew Roots. The admins are often opinionated, lack patience, and can be, what appears to be in-consistent or moody and at times aggressive, resembling more of a "fight club" than a family.  Don't use the "J" word (Jesus) or you are in trouble.  Don't post something unless you are ready to defend it.  IF the admins don't like your post, for any number of reasons, you can often find you post deleted and possibly removed from the group.

DEITY OF JESUS (Y'SHUA)
While the admins support the deity of the Y'shua, THEY DO ALLOW the many people in the group who oppose the view and allow them to pick fights and post outright propaganda against the deity of the Messiah. Mention the deity of the Messiah in a post and the admins appear to sit back and watch some in the group to attack the person posting with un-civilized name calling in a "shark type attack." So it's not safe.

TEACHINGS FROM JUDAISM
If there is one thing that the group seems to do correct it is to avoid the teachings of Judaism (for the most part)... BUT there remains clear pet traditions and teachings from Judaism that you don't dare cross or challenge.

ABOUT (from the Group):

REVIEW:
This group is promoted in association with Michael Rood's Aviv Fellowship Network and is meant for those who either participate in such local fellowships and/or follow the Aviv/New Moon Calendar using the sighting of the first light/sliver of the New Moon.  It is a smaller but more closely knit group of 600 members.  THE NEGATIVE: The admins have chosen a policy to regularly delete posts that contains any Hebrew Roots teachings not from Michael Rood's ministry. WE DO NOT RECOMMENDED this group because it is very "cliquish," divisive, and NOT WELCOMING to many even of the same beliefs.

DEITY OF JESUS (Y'SHUA)

TEACHINGS FROM JUDAISM

ABOUT (from the Group):

Our Mission Statement:
Creating a solid network of leaders and fellowships to restore the hebrew roots of the christian faith.

Message from the Director:
Our goal is to bring quality teaching, targeted resources, encouragement, accountability, identity, and connection to every hebrew roots home group leader, fellowship leader, worship leader and congregation pastor around the globe. Aviv Fellowship's mission is to unify fellowships on the core foundational principles of the word of YHVH such as the biblical feast days according to the Astronomically and Agriculturally Corrected Biblical Hebrew Calendar, remembering the Sabbath day and keeping it holy, and following in the footsteps of our Messiah Yeshua by walking in Spirit and Truth. By doing this we create a solid network of leaders and fellowships where new converts and seasoned saints can come together to help restore the hebrew roots of the christian faith.

We know from experience how hard it can be to find a group of likeminded people to fellowship with.
Hebrews 10:25 states; "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Not only is Aviv Fellowships a great place for leaders to connect, it is a reliable and trustworthy place for all of YHVH's people to find a safe place to gather. Our fellowship finder tool allows people to find a fellowship near them. Weekly fellowship with believers plays a crucial part in our walk with the Father which unfortunately those of us who have asked some of the harder questions are lacking. Aviv Fellowships strive to not only bring the true gospel of the kingdom to the world, we decided to create a platform for all of Yeshua's disciples to come together and fellowship once again.
